Reading Culture Development (RCD)

Introduction: A dedicated campaign to establish functional libraries and instill a lifelong love for reading through the “Reader as a Leader” and “Read Nepal, Lead Nepal” initiatives.

 

Objectives:
To design, set up, and manage vibrant, inviting library spaces within schools.
To run engaging activities that make reading a popular and habitual activity.
To significantly improve vocabulary, comprehension, and general knowledge among students.

 

Importance: Reading is the fundamental skill underpinning all academic success. A strong reading culture transforms the entire learning environment of a school.


Impact & Outcomes:
a. For Student: Improved academic performance across all subjects, enhanced imagination, and critical thinking.
b. For Teacher: More knowledgeable students who are easier to teach and engage in higher-level discussions.
c. For School: Creation of a scholarly atmosphere and a visible commitment to holistic development.


Working Modality:
a. Library space design and book curation.
b. Training for a librarian or teacher-in-charge.
c. Weekly reading hours, book clubs, author visits, and reading challenges.
